How to Point a Domain Name to Your Hosting

f you registered your domain name with another provider but purchased your hosting with Zentec Solutions, you'll need to point your domain to our servers so your website becomes accessible.

Here’s how to do it:

✅ Step 1: Locate Zentec’s Nameservers

After purchasing your hosting plan, Zentec Solutions provided you with nameservers in your welcome email. They usually look like this:

ns1.zentecsolutions.ca
ns2.zentecsolutions.ca

Make sure you have this information handy.

✅ Step 2: Log in to Your Domain Registrar

Go to the website where you purchased your domain name (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, WHC, etc.), and log into your account.

✅ Step 3: Change the Domain’s Nameservers

  1. Find the DNS Settings or Nameservers section of your domain

  2. Select the option to use custom nameservers

  3. Replace the default nameservers with Zentec's:

           ns1.zentecsolutions.ca
           ns2.zentecsolutions.ca

    4. Save your changes

✅ Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS changes can take between 30 minutes and 24 hours to fully propagate worldwide. During this time, your domain may show a placeholder page or nothing at all — this is normal.

???? Alternative: Use A Record (Advanced Users)

If you prefer using DNS records instead of nameservers:

  • Log into your registrar’s DNS manager

  • Find the A Record section

  • Point the domain (@) to your hosting IP address (available in your WHM or welcome email)

  • Save and wait for propagation
